Ryan Garmoe is a freelance trumpeter, arranger, composer, and educator based out of Des Moines, Iowa and Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Ryan actively performs throughout Iowa and the Midwest with notable performance credits including appearances with the wcfsymphony, brass quintet, and brass ensemble, as well as performances at the Iowa City Jazz Festival, Greeley Jazz Festival, Summer Camp Music Festival, Iowa Soul Festival, and 515 Alive Music Festival.
From 2018-2019, Ryan performed with Norwegian Cruise Line and Regent Seven Seas as a member of their show bands. Through this opportunity Ryan shared the stage with Juno Award Winners, Eurovision finalists, contestants from The Voice, Van Cliburn International Piano Competition medalists, and numerous singers from Broadway and London's West End.
Ryan graduated of the University of Northern Iowa in May 2018, where he received his Bachelor’s of Music in classical performance and a minor in jazz studies. While at UNI, Ryan was performed with guest artists Ben Wendel, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Luis Bonilla, Dave Douglas, Jack Cooper, Justin Kisor, John Wojciechowski, and John Kizilarmut.
Ryan was a 2 time finalist for the UNI Presser Solo Competition (2016, 2017) as well as a finalist for the UNI Concerto competition (2016). Ryan is also a 3 year attendee of the Atlantic Brass Quintet Chamber Music Seminar.
Currently, Ryan is working on his master's degree in Arts and Cultural Leadership at the University of Minnesota and expects to graduate in May, 2022.
